Description
Cactoid is the Rank I Earth Ranged Esper in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. The green Cactoids are ally Yarhi, while the brown ones are enemy Yarhi. Despite its name, it bears more resemblance to a Cactite than a Cactoid.

Gameplay[]
Summoning Cactoid costs 10 Affinity. Its only attack, 1000 Needles, deals damage to a single enemy.
Cactoid is one of the few Rank I Ranged Esper to have an astounding growth in Attack Speed, and is the only Ranged Esper to have the highest Attack Speed. Making its time between attacks to be 2.0 seconds till 1 second.
Its total latency was 14, second to Cactoid (16), but exceeding Sylph (12) and Shivan (11). Cactoid's basic attack, 1000 Needles, is physical, so it uses Attack stat. Its hit style is direct shot, which means that it hits and stops at any target within the attack's range.
Cactoids have the fastest Attack Speed among all of the Esper Ranged Units. Due to the Cactoids having their initial 1000 Needle as a normal attack, the damage done is not exactly 1000, but calculated similarly with any other units. Their attack form is Incoming, which means they attack directly towards the enemy. This is useful to attack an incoming Flying enemy approaching it.
Aside from Cactoid's significant Attack Speed, its attacks can easily miss a fast-moving unit, as 1000 Needles travels in a direct line. Vaan can use Sprint to maneuver to dodge their attacks while Filo can always uses Glide to run from its direction.

Sabotender (サボテンダー, Sabotendā?) is derived from mixing the Japanese word for cactus (サボテン, saboten?) and the English word "pretender" (プリテンダー, puritendā?).
