The Sprite is a species of enemy and a specific enemy in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. They are delicate floating monsters with a magickal focus. Sprites harness Holy powers to heal their allies and harm their foes. Since most of their abilities require a lot of MP, using Rasp or Osmose will force them to resort to weak physical attacks.

If one wishes to obtain their Blue Magick skills they need to have plenty MP. The party should try using Silence, Disable, or sleep, then have a Beastmaster force them to use it after the effect clears, as they are more likely to have the required amount of MP for their skills. Their high Resistance may make this difficult.

Etymology[]

Sprite is a broad term referring to a number of preternatural legendary creatures. The term is generally used in reference to elf-like creatures, including fairies, and similar beings (although not earth beings), but can also signify various spiritual beings, including ghosts.

The word "banshee" is derived from the Irish bean sídhe, meaning "woman of the fairy mound." In Irish mythology, a banshee is the spirit of a woman, usually seen as an omen of death or a messenger from the Otherworld. According to legend, a banshee will wail around a house if someone inside is about to die.
