Please tell me all the doors are not like this.

Trap Door, also known as TrapDoor or Assult Door, is an enemy in Final Fantasy IV. They are fought by pressing the action button on a locked door at the Sealed Cave; they never appear in a random encounter. They are far stronger than the other enemies in the area.

Battle[]

The Trap Door will lock on to one party member with Target, then cast Ninth Dimension on the next turn ("Search and "Disrupt" respectively, in the SNES version), instantly killing the targeted character. If the fight goes on long enough, a new monster will appear, replacing the Trap Door with either a Yellow Dragon or Chimera Brain.

Strategy[]

An easy way to defeat the Trap Doors would be to have Rosa cast Reflect on the targeted character, which will cause the Trap Door to kill itself. However, she may not get a turn before at least one party member is killed.

Because the Trap Door does no damage otherwise, it may be best to open all the doors before exploring the rooms behind them. This avoids wasting magic curing resurrected party members only to have them die in the next encounter.
