Barthandelus Second Form
"Fighting Fate"
Music-harp
FFXIII - Fighting Fate
Trouble with the audio sample?
This battle music plays during the fight against Barthandelus in FFXIII. The rage of the orchestra and the solemnity of the chorus befit his pomp and nihilism.

"Fighting Fate" (宿命への抗い, Shukumei e no Aragai?) is a boss theme from Final Fantasy XIII and is associated with Barthandelus. It was composed by Masashi Hamauzu.

Game appearances Edit

Final Fantasy XIII Edit

XIII "Fighting Fate" is the battle theme for the battles of all three incarnations of Barthandelus. It explicitly references the intent of Galenth Dysley to use the l'Cie as his tools to bring about Ragnarok, an incarnation of wrath, so as to destroy Cocoon. It is the seventeenth track of the third disc of the game's Original Soundtrack.

Notably, Barthandelus recites its lyrics while under the guise of Serah at Oerba, and adds "Make of this day a brave epoch. Deliver the Divine, Ragnarok". In Latin, it is "Creo dies tempo fortis. Vindico divinum, Ragnarok".

A version without the chorus plays as the main characters are chased by Yaag Rosch while escaping the Palamecia. It was included on the Original Soundtrack PLUS album.

Lyrics Edit

The Lyrics are a recurring element in a few other songs.

Ragnarok de Dies Irae
l'Cie Pultis. Tuum fatum sequeris. Tuum sanctuarium affligeas
