- “This battle music plays during the fight against Barthandelus in FFXIII. The rage of the orchestra and the solemnity of the chorus befit his pomp and nihilism.”
- —Theatrhythm Final Fantasy description
"Fighting Fate" is the battle theme for the battles of all three incarnations of Barthandelus. It explicitly references the intent of Galenth Dysley to use the l'Cie as his tools to bring about Ragnarok, an incarnation of wrath, so as to destroy Cocoon. It is the seventeenth track of the third disc of the game's Original Soundtrack.
Notably, Barthandelus recites its lyrics while under the guise of Serah at Oerba, and adds "Make of this day a brave epoch. Deliver the Divine, Ragnarok". In Latin, it is "Creo dies tempo fortis. Vindico divinum, Ragnarok".
"Fighting Fate" is incorporated in the the game's final boss theme, "Almighty Bhunivelze".
The Lyrics are a recurring element in a few other songs.
"Fighting Fate" is part of the Final Fantasy XIII Music Pack DLC distributed through the PlayStation Network. It is automatically selected for Arcade and Quick Battles featuring Lightning or Orphan's Cradle.
"Fighting Fate" is a bonus Battle theme available as downloadable content.
