White Mage - FEAR

Drives all foes away in terror.

Description

Fear (FEAR in the NES release) is a level 4 White Magic spell which attempts to drive all enemies away. It has a rather low success rate.

The spell can be bought at Elfheim and can be learned by the White Mage and White Wizard job classes. In the GBA/PSP/iOS releases it costs 10 MP to cast.

Final Fantasy II

Template:Sideicon Fear is a White Magic spell which increases the chances that one or all enemies will flee in the next round. The success rate increases with the level of the spell. Any character can learn Fear by having them use the Fear Tome (called the Fear Scroll in the Origins release).

Fear Tome
Effect Allows the target to learn Fear when used outside of battle. Casts Fear VIII on all enemies when used in battle.
Buy Bafsk, Mysidia
Cost 800 gil (Origins)
600 gil (Dawn of Souls, 20th Anniversary Edition)

Final Fantasy III

Template:Sideicon In the original Famicom version, Bards have access to the Scare command, which decreases the enemies' hit rate (much like Slow in Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II), as well as making them more likely to flee from battle. Scare is not present in the 3D remakes.

Final Fantasy VI

Template:Sideicon Fear is an enemy-only ability, used by the upgraded Skull Dragon at the Dragons' Den. It merely inflicts the Zombie status on one target.

Final Fantasy XII

Template:Sideicon Fear is an enemy-only ability, it depletes one character's MP by 75%. It used mainly by Entite-type enemies.

Final Fantasy XIV

Template:Sideicon Mass Fear (マスフィアー, Masu Fiā?, lit. Mass Fear) was an unused Thaumaturge spell. The spell's description was "Causes the target to flee". Details on how exactly this would have worked may remain forever unknown, as the spell's existence predates both the radical changes made to the mage jobs at the hands of the new director as well as the change to A Realm Reborn.

Bravely Default

Template:Sideicon Fear is a level 4 black magic costing 5 MP to cast. It has a 75% chance to cause dread in one target. Fear is also a level 4 Sword Magic spell. It adds dread to weapon for 10 turns, in which it has a 75% chance to cause dread in one target when attacking. The dread status prevents the target from using the Brave or Default commands.
