Fastitocalon is an enemy from Final Fantasy VIII. In the Japanese version, it is known as Focalor. It first appears as a fin sticking out of the ground, much like Fastitocalon-F. The only way to tell the difference between the two once the battle starts is that this monster has a much deeper and more distinct cry than its counterparts.

Etymology

[view · edit · purge]Fastitocalon is another name for Aspidochelone, a legendary sea monster whose back resembled an island that would lure sailors to their doom. Fastitocalon is also mentioned in an old-English poem called The Whale as a name for the Devil.

Its Japanese name is Focalor. [view · edit · purge]Focalor is the name of one of the 72 demons said to have been sealed by Solomon. In demonology, Focalor is said to be the name of a demon with power of wind and sea.
