Hagakure (葉隱, Hagakure?, lit. Hidden by the leaves) is a spiritual code and guide for warriors, based on the writings of the samurai Yamamoto Tsunetomo. It was written about a hundred years after Hideyoshi Toyotomi's unification of Japan; as such, the way of the warrior was bowing out to a more administrative and bureaucratic role within society.
