Espada has Auto Regen. He counters physical attacks with Hades Claw, which causes Instant Death and Poison. There's a high chance it will use it three times in a row, making it possible for it to wipe out the entire party with no trouble. Espada has no resistance to Armor Break, and has only 50% resistance to Slow.

Espada drops weapons with Strength +% abilities and armor with Defense +% abilities, Strength +20% and Defense +20% being fixed abilities.

Like most Area Conquest monsters, Espada is quite easy if the player has the Celestial Weapons. Espada has an instant-death counterattack, so Deathproof armor is useful here. Otherwise, it is recommended to use armor with Auto-Haste and Auto-Phoenix, as they will cut down on the number of turns lost reviving downed members and re-casting Haste upon them, which will happen often due to its Blade Shower ability.

Espada is Spanish and Portuguese for "sword". This refers to the blades on its limbs.

  • Espada and Neslug are the only arena creations immune to Doom. Coincidentally (or maybe intentionally), they are also the only two arena creations with a Zanmato level of 4; the others all have a Zanmato level of 5.
