Before The Burning Blade, he had been a reward for completing the Bonus Quest "Complete Antlion's Den Elite (IV)". He has since appeared in the Challenge Event A Summoner Grown as a supporting character.

Another game made by Squaresoft called Legend of Mana features a centaur bard named Gilbert, who is loosely based on Edward. In the quest Faeries' Light which involves Gilbert and Monique, the reward for completing this quest is the artifact Trembling Spoon. A nod to the "Spoony bard" line uttered by Tellah.
