The young ruler of the desert kingdom of Figaro. For the sake of his subjects, he allied with the Gestahlian Empire, but a conflict with Kefka provides the opportunity for him to devote himself entirely to the Returners' resistance. StoryEdit

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Edgar joins the party in Utopia Niveus; however he influences the party's course long before then. After his arrival in the world, he found himself unsatisfied with the path offered by either Materia or Spiritus, and did not trust Mog. Instead he sought a third way in order to discover the truth about the new world. He founded the Returners, naming them after the resistance group in his homeland, and recruited several other warriors who had entered the world: Firion, Layle, Shadow, and Lightning. They made contact with (and joined) Mog's party throughout their travels.

Edgar himself meets them all when their airship crashes in Utopia Niveus. He joins the party after they defeat the monster summoned by the Emperor. While he had been working behind the scenes to discover the truth behind the gods and the world, Edgar joins the party himself at this point.

Spoilers end here.
