Earth Render (地烈斬 or 地裂斬, Chiretsuzan?, lit. Ground Splitting Slash), also known as Shockwave, Earth Slash, Earthshatter, Gaia Breach, or Rockbreaker, is a recurring ability in the series, generally used by Monks. It is generally an Earth-elemental attack that hits multiple enemies in a line, and is mostly seen within the Ivalice Alliance series of games.
Rockbreaker appears in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn as a Monk ability available after completing the "Brother from Another Mother" job quest at level 30. The ability deals an attack with a potency of 130 to all enemies in a cone before the user and costs 120 TP to use. In addition, it changes the user to opo-opo form for 10 seconds and grants them a Greased Lightning for 12 seconds.
Earth's anger running through my arms! Earth Slash!
In the original PlayStation version, the Shockwave ability was called Earth Slash. The ability can be learned by the Monk Job for 600 JP. The ability deals Earth-elemental damage to enemies 8 squares in front of the user. The ability was later translated as Shockwave in the War of the Lions version of the game.
Earth Render returns as an ability used by the White Monk, and will deal Earth-elemental damage to all targets to a maximum of 4 squares in front of the user. It is once again learned for 200 AP from the Tiger Fangs.
Gaia Breach is an EX Bravery attack used by Gabranth that has Gabranth slams into the ground to create shockwaves that home in on the opponent, which when hit will launch them into the air. Gaia Breach is learned at level 22, requires 20 CP to equip unmastered and 10 CP to equip when mastered, and requires 120 AP to learn. The attack is a low ranged Ground attack that can induce Chase.
