Concept art for Final Fantasy Tactics.

The common Dragon (ドラゴン, Doragon?) is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. While a dangerous enemy when it appears, it is often the first and weakest enemy of its type encountered.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy III[]

Dragon from FFIII Pixel Remaster sprite

The Dragon is an enemy found in the Temple of Time. It is a rather dangerous enemy due to its Flame ability, which can deal heavy damage to the party. However, it can be minimized if the player has Ice Helms and Ice Shields equipped on the party. Physical attacks work best to defeat it.

Final Fantasy VI[]

DragonFF6

The Dragon is one of the more powerful enemies encountered on the Floating Continent and always appears alone. It is capable of ejecting party members from the battle.

Final Fantasy VII[]

DragonFFVII

Dragon is an enemy fought in a scripted battle during a flashback, in the area of Mt. Nibel where Materia Keeper resides, and in the final round of the Battle Square during the time Tiny Bronco is available. When fought in the Battle Square its stats are enhanced with double the regular HP and its Attack and Magic Attack are increased by 25%.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Dragon 1 (FFXI)

While dragon refers to a larger class of enemies within Final Fantasy XI's ecosystem, it may also refer to the common dragon, a family of enemies within that class. Dragons are currently only known to naturally inhabit three areas of Vana'diel—one in the Middle Lands and two in the Near East—with those located in the Near East being of the more dangerous Dahak subspecies. Unlike their wyvern and wyrm cousins, dragons have a tendency to behave like members of the lizard family, such as detecting by sound, and use area attacks that neither wyverns nor wyrms use.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Aiatar from FFXIV

The common Dragon is the standard form assumed by members of the dragon race. Each dragon metamorphosizes over their course of their long lives according to the needs of their environment, resulting in several drastically different creatures of the same race. The classical dragon form is one assumed as part of standard development, resulting in a balanced transformation compared to more drastic, specialized forms.

Final Fantasy Tactics[]
