Dr. Lugae

Dr. Lugae is a boss in the game Final Fantasy IV. He is a servant of Golbez, and does experiments for him and the Archfiends. He works in the Tower of Babil. His prized creation was a robot named Barnabas.

Lugae was responsible for killing the king and queen of Eblan and turning them into monsters, however, Edge blamed this incident on Rubicante. Lugae was talking to Rubicante when Cecil Harvey, Kain Highwind, Rydia, Rosa Farrell, and Yang Fang Leiden arrived. He warped Rubicante from the Underworld to the Overworld. Rydia spoke up after this, and it caught Lugae's attention. Lugae then summoned Barnabas and had it attack the party. However, Barnabas was incredibly stupid, and attacked Lugae instead. Eventually, the party was able to defeat Barnabas, and Lugae turned it into "Barnabas-Z," (or, if Lugae is defeated, it runs out of oil) which proceeded to blow itself up. Lugae himself then transformed into a skeleton and attacked the party. The party was then able to defeat him.

Dr. Lugae is fought in the Tower of Babil. He has two forms, the Doctor fighting alongside Barnabas, and the monster form, which is skeletal-like.

In Final Fantasy Tactics, one can acquire a string puppet called a Lugae, which resembles Lugae's skeleton form on strings.
