V

Dhorme Chimera, also known as QuadrHarpy, is an enemy in Final Fantasy V. It is one of the more powerful enemies in Bartz's World. They can be found in a patch of desert north of the Library of the Ancients. It also can be found in the Merged World's Walse Tower, underwater.

Battle Edit

Dhorme Chimera has a high chance of ambushing the player and will cast Aqua Breath at the start of the battle, as well as hitting with critical attacks. It is worth the challenge to fight it so that Blue Mages can learn the powerful Blue Magic spell, Aqua Breath.

Strategy Edit

Dhorme Chimera is susceptible to Slow. Have a Time Mage slow it down to increase your party's chances of survival. Control also works.

In the first world, is recommendable to have a Ninja in the group, so he/she can use Throw; the best item is a Shuriken, because it will cause enough damage to take it down in one hit. The same strategy can be used in the third world. Buying a Flame, Ice or Thunder Rod from Karnak and using one in battle as an item will also kill it in one hit.

Etymology Edit

The chimera is a fire-breathing monster, one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. It is commonly represented with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail in Greek mythology. In modern usage, the term chimera is often taken to mean any sort of hybrid between two or more species.
