Deshell is an ability available to the Saboteur paradigm role that lowers an enemy's Magic Defense by 89%. It is classified as a debuffing spell and it can be inflicted by itself or to cancel an enemy's Shell status. It costs 1 ATB gauge segment to cast and is one of Vanille's main and first Saboteur abilities.
Deshell is learned by Lightning and Sazh on Crystarium Stage 7, and by Fang on Stage 8. Upgraded version is Deshellga, which is an area of effect spell and costs 3 ATB segments. Deshellga is learned by Vanille and Hope on Stage 7 and on Stage 9 by Lightning. Snow is the only character not to learn any Deshell abilities.
XIII-2 Deshell is an ability once again available to Saboteur role, but now it inflicts Wound damage to the enemy as well as reducing its Magic Defense. It costs 1 ATB gauge segment to cast, and is learnable by Serah and Noel both. The improved version, Deshellga, is only available and Saboteur monsters.
