In the NES version, it provides 12 Defense, 18 Magic Defense, and 24% Evade. In the 3D versions, it provides 12 Defense, 8 Magic Defense, and immunity to Toad and Confuse.

In the Zodiac versions, it can now be found at Cerobi Steppe (Crossfield) and Pharos - First Ascent (Wellspring Ravel - 1st Flight), dropped from Abysteel at the Henne Mines (1% chance), stolen from Abysteel at Lhusu Mines or Sochen Cave Palace (3% chance), from the Bazaar from the "Forbidding Shield" set, or from completing the Diabolos Hunt.
