Dead Pepper is a type of vegetable related to Chocobos. It makes its appearance in Final Fantasy IX and the anime Final Fantasy: Unlimited.

The Dead Pepper is an item obtained from the minigame Chocobo Hot & Cold by finding a Chocograph. A dead pepper can also be used to get Zidane's Ultima Weapon.

The effects of feeding Chocobo are different according to terrain. They can be used to seek out treasures and Chocograph by drilling the cracks on ground, the bubbling waters in the sea, and fly up into the Chocobo Sky Garden.

Dead Peppers are supposedly named as such because the fruit/vegetable that bears them has died due to Mist.


Effect Damages a target equal to 30 times the number of Dead Peppers in your inventory. On the field, use to uncover secret treasure if given to a chocobo.

Dead Peppers show up in Episode 10 and 20. They are Chobi's favorite food, and they look like giant red chili peppers. When Chobi takes a bite, the Chocobo goes berserk.
