Datz Strongberry (ダッツ・ストロングベリィ, Dattsu Sutoronguberī?) is a supporting non-player character in Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer. He is a Corporal in the Shieldbearers and one of the members that supervise the House by the Sea.
Datz is a large 26-year-old man. He is partially bald, with dark brown hair, a beard and a ponytail. He wears a green inner shirt topped with a black vest, a pair of brown leather gloves, a pair of striped black pants and grey boots. He wears a necklace, and has a sword behind him.
Datz is an attentive and friendly person. Though upon meeting Agnès and Airy, he sees them as being too young (Agnès) or small (Airy) to perform such a serious mission like awakening the crystals. He is skilled at ship navigation, and has great manual dexterity.
Datz is a member of the Shieldbearers, a force that was dedicated to protecting the fire vestal. He fought in the war against the Swordbearers, but was injured after an encounter with Nobutsuna Kamiizumi, leader of the Black Blades. He remained at the House by the Sea, and was present to greet Zatz after he returned with Agnès Oblige and her companions in tow. Datz would escort Agnès's group to the Eisen Bridge, where they met with Commander Goodman. Datz would later show the group to Hartschild, and the home of Eleanor Goodman, who received them as guests of state. Datz would leave to return to his comrades.
After Agnès awakened the Fire Crystal, she and her companions returned to Grandship to regroup, as they had no way to cross into Eternia, home of the Earth Crystal. Datz and Zatz were given orders from Commander Goodman to accompany the group and protect them, so the pair headed to Grandship as well. They would reveal these orders to Agnès's group after Grandship was awakened as an airship. While Agnès's group was on the ground, Datz would help pilot the ship to keep it out of danger. After awakening the Earth Crystal, Datz would accompany the group to the Holy Pillar, but evacuated below deck with the Proprietress and Zatz.
After arriving in a new world, Datz would track Agnès's group to Caldisla, and continue to serve as a pilot for each successive world.
