Dark Valefor is an optional boss in the International and PAL versions of Final Fantasy X. It guards the entrance to Besaid Village when the party returns there after obtaining an Airship.

[edit] Strategy

Dark Valefor uses physical attacks, as well as Valefor's special attacks: Sonic Wings, Energy Ray and Energy Blast (as Overdrive), which hit the entire party. Energy Blast can deal massive damage, so it's best to use Auto-Life or call an Aeon, when Dark Valefor's Overdrive gauge is full. The enemy has low HP, so it can be defeated quickly, before it causes any trouble. However, the party should have high Agility and Luck. Very high Strength and Defense are also very useful. Its overdrive gauge also charges up very quickly so you're speed needs to be maxed out before it attacks.

If your Strength is high enough, Wakka can take Dark Valefor out with a single Attack Reels.

As any other enemy, it can be killed instantly by Yojimbo's Zanmato attack. Valefor will use Energy Ray before overdrive gauge fills!
