The Dark Elves are a race from Final Fantasy. They are somewhat related to the Elves inhabiting Elfheim, and are led by Astos. The Dark Elves once attempted to usurp control of Elfheim, but Astos was defeated by the Warriors of Light.
In addition to Astos, the Warriors of Light fight some Dark Elves as regular enemies. Dark Elves come in two forms: the Dark Wizard and the Dark Fighter. Despite the Dark Fighter's name, both types of Dark Elf are magically inclined.
