Daniel (Hebrew: דָּנִיֵּאל, "God is my Judge") is the protagonist in the Book of Daniel of the Hebrew Bible where Daniel is one of several children taken into Babylonian captivity where they are educated in Chaldean thought. He never converts to Neo-Babylonian ways and through instruction from "the God of Heaven" interpreted dreams and visions of kings, becoming a prominent figure in the court of Babylon.
