First form[]

In this form, the Curse Dragon will hit the player party with two physical attacks, Blaze, or Fira. While his Fira and physical attacks are no big deal, Blaze can defeat a low-level party. Kain should be equipped with his Dragoon Lance, as it will do Holy-type damage, which the Curse Dragon is weak against. Ceodore or Cid should use a Spider's Silk to slow his attacks when the battle starts, then use physical attacks or items as needed. Rosa should be ready to heal when needed. It is also best to not fight this boss in the New Moon phase, as this will lower the effectiveness of healing. It may be beneficial to hit Cid with a Haste spell during this phase, because he is slow. The player does not need worry about conserving Rosa's magic for the first phase. When beaten, Curse Dragon will change to his second form.

Second form[]

Whenever attacked, the Curse Dragon will counterattack a random party member with Black Fang, which will knock out whoever it hits. In addition, he also gains a new spell called Dark Breath, which will hit the entire party much like his Blaze attack. His Fira spell is also now upgraded to Firaga. He also gains the Doom, which he will sometimes randomly use as a counterattack, though the chances of this are low in comparison to Black Fang. When his phase begins, the player should again hit him with a Spider's Silk. If Ceodore and Kain have sufficient MP, the safest way to kill the Curse Dragon is to use Cross Slash Prime on it. After three hits the Curse Dragon should be defeated. If Rosa or Ceodore are running low on magic points, a character should use a Phoenix Down to revive fallen characters.

Etymology[]

A curse is any expressed wish that some form of adversity or misfortune will befall or attach to some other entity: one or more persons, a place, or an object. In particular, "curse" may refer to such a wish or pronouncement made effective by a supernatural or spiritual power, or else as a kind of spell by magic or witchcraft; in the latter sense, a curse can also be called a hex or a jinx.

A dragon is a legendary creature, typically with serpentine or reptilian traits, which is featured in the myths of many cultures.
