Crystal Cave

From Final Fantasy Wiki

The following article is based on a subject that has not been officially named in any official Square Enix material; the current title is merely a placeholder.
Crystal Cave, as seen in Final Fantasy VII.

???, also more commonly known among fans as the Crystal Cave, is a location in Final Fantasy VII. It is located in a waterfall in the center of the Western Continent, which can only be accessed by going through an underwater tunnel by Submarine. Lucrecia Crescent stayed here after the birth of her child, Sephiroth. During the events of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, she is encased in the glowing crystals, though it's never explained how. This place holds a lot of importance to Vincent Valentine and the storyline of Dirge of Cerberus.

The Crystal Cave in Dirge of Cerberus

The Crystal Cave and Lucrecia plays an important role in Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-. In a flashback, Crystal Cave is revealed to be the place where Chaos is supposed to emerge at the appointed time. After the death of Sephiroth, Vincent would visit Lucrecia. It is later revealed that Lucrecia encased herself in the Crystal because she felt guilty for the "death" and transformation of Vincent, and also for bearing the sin of having given birth to Sephiroth. In the epilogue, Vincent would speak to Lucrecia one last time, thanking her for giving him a new lease on life. A tear can be seen rolling down Lucrecia's cheek as Vincent leaves the cave.
