The Crawler or (Al Bhed Gunner in Japanese) is a boss from Final Fantasy X, fought at Lake Macalania. It is the third and final Al Bhed weapon used in an attempt to kidnap Yuna and is piloted by Brother.

StrategyEdit

Crawler is accompanied by a Negator which blocks all use of magic and Aeons. Destroying it is quite easy, although that action can be a double-edged sword: when it is gone Lulu will be free to use her Thunder spells, and Yuna can summon Ixion to deal lots of damage. However, Crawler will be free to charge its Mana Beam, which is a devastating attack on the entire party. The charge can be halted with a spell, but this (and if the Mana Beam is fired) will result in a new Negator being launched. This also means that if the player times the summoning of an Aeon, the Negator will stop it from using Mana Beam and the party can have the Aeon out for the fight, making it somewhat easier.

The Crawler counters spells with a normal physical attack, and will often use its Gatling Gun that randomly hits all party members for moderate damage.

Once again, Tidus's abilities will be useful in this battle. Slow and Delay Attack will be effective; and also Cheer and Haste for the party. Auron's Armor Break should also be used. Rikku's Mighty Guard Overdrives can be helpful in this fight.

There is another way to fight the boss without using magic. It involves using Rikku to get Lightning Marble and Electro Marble from the fiends in the Thunder Plains. The marbles deal around 10,000 or 7,000 damage, so the party can finish the Crawler off without killing the Negator.
