Construct 8, also known as Worker-8, is a character from Final Fantasy Tactics. It is a robot from the days of Saint Ajora Glabados that can be acquired as part of a sidequest.
[edit] Reactivation
Construct 8 had long been offline when it was discovered by Besrudio Bunansa. When Ramza Beoulve returned to the Clockwork City of Goug after defeating Belias, Besrodio told him about the strange device he had located. Ramza noticed a symbol on the robot and realized that a Zodiac Stone, to be precise, the Aquarius Stone, was required to activate the robot. He managed to recover that stone during a mission to the Mining Town of Gollund. When he brought the stone back to Goug, he was able to activate Construct 8.
Construct 8 immediately requested orders. Ramza, wanting to have a bit of fun with his new ally, commanded it to dance, which it did. Then to see if it could fight, he told Construct 8 to attack Mustadio. Construct 8 immediately pulverized Mustadio, and Ramza had to rush to get him a Phoenix Down. Construct 8 later accompanied Ramza to Nelveska Temple where they encountered Construct 7, a similar Automaton. They defeated it and recovered another Zodiac Stone, Cancer.
With the introduction of the Ivalice Alliance in terms of the identities of the Lucavi, it is possible that Famfrit the Darkening Cloud empowers Construct 8, fittingly as they are both robotic in appearance and are related to the Aquarius Zodiac.
[edit] In Battle
Worker 8 uses "work" skills, which can inflict heavy damage, but also costs a small amount of HP each time they are used. Being a robot, he cannot comprehend the concept of god/s, so he will always have the innocent status effect. He is also classified as a monster, so he cannot learn abilities, change jobs, or equip. Interestingly, Worker 8 may provide a boost to a character trying to reach a higher level (platform or roof for example).
