The Coeurl, also known as BlackCat or Kuar, is an enemy from Final Fantasy IV.

Battle Edit

It is slightly more difficult than the Cait Sith due to it countering more with its signature attack, Blaster. Aside from that, it is not that difficult and does not particularly attack unless attacked itself, so killing off any other enemies it may come with is a better idea.

Etymology Edit

The coeurl is a fictional alien race created by science-fiction writer A. E. van Vogt. Coeurls also appear in other fantastical environments, such as the game Dungeons & Dragons (as "Displacer Beasts"). Coeurls are generally described to be feline with longer forelimbs and tentacles.

It has also been known as BlackCat. The folklore surrounding black cats varies from culture to culture. In Great Britain and Japan black cats are seen as lucky, but in Western history, black cats have often been looked upon as a symbol of evil omens, specifically being suspected of being the familiars of witches, and so most of western and southern Europe considers the black cat a symbol of bad luck, especially if one crosses paths with a person, which is believed to be an omen of misfortune and death.
