|Final Fantasy III Enemy|
The Charybdis is an enemy from Final Fantasy III. They can be found underwater in the Surface World, usually in trios or accompanied by a Noggle. Charybdis are relatively easy targets by the time the player reaches them and, in the remakes, they are very weak to lightning spells.
In Greek mythology, Charybdis or Kharybdis was once a beautiful naiad and the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia. She takes form as a huge bladder of a creature whose face was all mouth and whose arms and legs were flippers and who swallows a huge amount of water three times a day before belching it back out again, creating whirlpools.
