III

The Cenchos, also known as the Kenkos, is a enemy from Final Fantasy III. It can be found as a Monster-in-a-box in the Saronia Catacombs. It is slightly dangerous if the party is underleveled, as it has a fairly strong physical attack, but it is otherwise not a overly difficult enemy to defeat. In the DS version, using Thundaga or Thundara can quickly end the battle.

Etymology Edit

Cenchos is a shortened form of Cichol Gricenchos. In Irish mythology, Cichol was the first leader of the Fomorians, a race of semi-divine beings similar to the Titans of Greek mythology. The name "Gricenchos" means "withered foot," or "footless," which fits the footless Cenchos of Final Fantasy III.
