Catoblepas is a boss from Final Fantasy VIII who is found in the Treasure Room of Ultimecia's Castle.
This monster is a hulking Behemoth who has an affinity with Thunder magic. His strength is very high (the Deadly Horn attack can do around 7000 damage), however he has quite low defense which can be further reduced with Meltdown.
As a final parting shot, Catoblepas will cast Meteor upon his defeat which will do around 2000 damage to all party members.
In the English-language version, if the party failed to acquire Alexander during the second battle with Edea, it can be drawn from Catoblepas.
