Final Fantasy XI's world, Vana'diel, contains hundreds of named areas, or zones, in which play occurs. Each of these is bundled into a region. The majority of regions, introduced by the original game and its first two expansions, are used in the Conquest system. The third expansion introduced additional regions for its Besieged feature while the fourth expansion added regions for Campaign. Locations which are not used in these subsystems include major cities, forgotten lands, and alternate worlds.
