Template:Sideicon Template:Location Castle of Bal, also known as Val Castle, is a location in Final Fantasy V. It is a kingdom ruled by king Galuf and his granddaughter, princess Krile. Story

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)
Bal Terrace

The wind drake tower at Bal.

Galuf returns to Bal after he gets his memory back and begins leading the war against Exdeath. Due to a high energy blast during a rescue mission in which Gilgamesh imprisons Bartz, Lenna, and Faris, Galuf is blown to a continent far away, and only Krile returns safely. They eventually arrive in the Moogle Village and since moogles can communicate long distances, and Krile can talk to moogles, she comes to their rescue on her wind drake.

After the journey the wind drake is sick, and the party ventures to Drakenvale for some Dragon Grass to heal it. The wind drake initially refuses to taste the grass, forcing Lenna to consume some first; after the wind drake sees Lenna eat the grass it will eat some itself and recover, although Lenna falls ill as dragon grass is poisonous to humans.

The party regroups at Bal after Galuf dies, and Krile joins the party permanently.

Odin FFV

Odin's challenge.

During the third world, the party can access the basement of Bal Castle via the Jachol Cave. In the basement, they find Odin, the legendary summon, who can join them if they manage to defeat it within one minute. Also in the third world, it is possible to return to Bal Castle, go up to the wind drake, and be able to use it once again as a means of flight.

Spoilers end here.
