Battle[]

Normal Encounter[]

During the events of Part II, the enemy is found roaming outside of Guera and inside Mount Gulg. The Buffohelm uses fire-elemental attacks in battle. Its special attack, Flame Blast, deals moderate fire-elemental damage to all party members.

The player should also have some Echo Herbs in their inventory, since the enemy may inflict silence with its physical attacks. When fighting the enemy, it is highly advised of the player to equip a Flame Shield to all party members and to attack with Bladeblitz and high level Black Magic.

Boss Encounter[]

The Buffohelm is encountered in the Trial Tower as a boss, along with a Ghoul. The enemy receives higher stats and can attack twice per turn. The enemy now has access to abilities that inflict numerous status ailments on the party, so it is highly advised of the player to have Esuna and a Ribbon in their inventory. To lower the damage dealt by Firaga, the player should have a Flame Shield equipped to some party members.

When the battle begins, the player should have their White Mage cast Lux and have their Elementalist cast Mysterio to make the Buffohelm and the Ghoul's attacks deal less damage to the party. To deal heavy damage to the enemy, the player should focus on using the Hero's Finale or the Ninja's Lightning Fists. If the party begins to become weak, the player should use Curaga or Miracle to heal the party. After a couple of turns, the Buffohelm should eventually fall.

Etymology[]

The Buffohelm is known as "Baphomet" in the Japanese release. Baphomet is an imagined pagan deity, product of Christian folklore concerning pagans.
