Template:Sideicon Template:FFXIII Enemy Borgbear Hero is a mark in Final Fantasy XIII. It appears in Missions 42 and 43.

Battle

In Mission 42, the Borgbear Hero fights alongside with four Borgbears. If the Borgbear Hero is slain before the Borgbears, a Borgbear will then become another Borgbear Hero. Therefore, the Borgbears should be defeated before the Borgbear Hero.

In Mission 43, the Borgbear Hero is accompanied by a Goblin, a Goblin Chieftain, a Munchkin, a Munchkin Maestro, and a Borgbear. The weaker foes should be dispatched first.

For those looking to farm CP, killing Borgbear Heroes and thus transforming regular Borgbears into a new one will result in a lot more CP earned at the end. A normal Borgbear gives 3,000 CP, or 6,000 CP with a Growth Egg equipped. A Borgbear Hero gives 5,600 CP, or 11,200 CP with a Growth Egg.

Etymology

Borgbear is possibly derived from "bugbear." A bugbear is a legendary creature or type of hobgoblin comparable to the bogeyman and other creatures of folklore historically used to frighten disobedient children. The name is derived from a Middle English word bugge (a frightening thing), or perhaps the old Welsh word bwg (evil spirit or goblin), or old Scots bogill (goblin). In medieval England, the bugbear was depicted as a creepy bear that lurked in the woods to scare children. In a modern context, the term serves as a metaphor for something annoying often with a connotation that the loathing it inspires is disproportionate to its importance.
