The appearance of the Black Mage in The 4 Heroes of Light differs from the traditional Final Fantasy Black Mages, who traditionally have worn large pointy hats. The Black Mage is a good addition in battle since they reduce the AP cost for using Black Magic by one, and they have a high Intelligence stat. Their downside is having low HP.
The Black Mage can also learn a few abilities that gives characters status buffs. In contrast to lacking Flare and Meteor, Magic Might can deals massive non-elemental damage every two turns. The job's special armor, Black Robe, provides a 10% boost to the user's Intellect and Magic stats.
|Offensive Magic||Recovery Magic||Evade||Magic Evade|
|Magic Mojo||Make your next attack spell do more damage than usual.||1||None|
|Spell Focus||Make your next attack spell do a lot more damage than usual.||2||5 Topazes|
|Mirror||Enable the entire party to reflect spells back at the opponent.||3||2 Rubies|
|Magic Might||Strike all enemies with a beam of light. Dealing massive damage to all opponents.||4||7 Topazes|
The outfit for the Black Mage in 4 Heroes of Light appears to be very similar to the first form of Chaos, the main antagonist of the game.
