|
Barbariccia, originally known as Valvalis, is a storyline boss in Final Fantasy IV. A seductive figure known as Empress of the Winds, she appears as one of Golbez's Archfiends.

[edit] First Encounter
It should be noted that she, while wrapped in hair, counters all weapon attacks with the exception of Kain's Jump (which forces her out of this form), with strong physical attacks and the Maelstrom spell. When she returns to his regular form, start using Cecil's and Cid's attacks, Yang should use Focus and Rosa should just buff your party with good status effects. During the battle in the Giant of Babil she is permanently locked in her hair because Kain isn't in your party and is thus immune to all physical attacks.
[edit] DS Strategy
Barbariccia sometimes counters physical attacks with the powerful Lightning spell, which does upwards of 500 damage to the party, and otherwise uses strong physicals and Tornado, which reduces HP to single digits. Rosa and Cecil should cast Shell and Protect on the party to defend them while Kain jumps and Yang builds up power with Focus. Once Kain lands and Barbariccia's wind shield falls, attack her with everything you have and use Rosa to heal the party.
