IX

The Bandersnatch is an enemy from Final Fantasy IX. Zorn and Thorn summon Bandersnatches to stop the party from escaping Alexandria Castle with Garnet. They can also be fought in random encounters around the city of Alexandria. In the event that Vivi convinces Zidane to cheer on Garnet before she is enthroned, the party can leave Alexandria for a while to fight these monsters for Experience within the beginning of disc 3.

The Bandersnatch is considered a mini-boss when first met in Alexandria because the player is unable to flee from it and it is seen "in-game" before the battle commences.

Battle Edit

Bandersnatches are easy to defeat with Beast Killer equipped on Zidane or Amarant, as well as equipping Insomnia on the party to avoid anyone being put to sleep.

Bandersnatch is not overly difficult to defeat, as physical attacks are more than enough to defeat it, but it is advised to equip Lightning-absorbing equipment to guard against its Thundara spell.

Etymology Edit

Bandersnatch is a creature mentioned twice by the late author Lewis Carroll; in the poem Jabberwocky in the Alice novel Through The Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, and also in the stand-alone poem The Hunting of the Snark (An Agony in 8 Fits).
