Oh, shut up and help me remodel the Balthier/Opera Omnia page!
A youthful sky pirate deeply attached to the wide blue yonder who roams the world with his partner, Fran. In an unexpected turn of events, he meets Vaan and gets caught up in a quest to restore Dalmasca. Although a man of charm and wit, he becomes highly sensitive when people bring up his past or father.
Balthier is a playable character in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia.
Balthier enters through the Ruins of Deserta. He meets Vaan in the party led by Mog and introduces himself as the "leading man of this little story." He claims to be hunting for treasure in the Torsions and declines to join such a large band of strangers. Though he is intrigued that the party has an airship--having been separated from his own, and his partner--he remains on his own for a while longer.
He meets up with the party again after he notices Rem among them but is disturbed when he sees how young she is, and even more so when she tells him she was already a soldier on her homeworld. He derisively says that he hopes Mog has a good reason for recruiting so many children. It takes more conversation for her, Sazh, and Vaan to persuade him into joining, but he finally does on the understanding that he's only there to seek out treasure.
Having obtained a sufficiently valuable piece of armor, Balthier again prepares to leave the party to its own devices. Y'shtola speaks up, accurately sensing that Balthier is more concerned with finding his lost partner than material gains. He finally concedes, as it's fitting for the leading man to occasionally be heroic, and notes that Y'shtola has read him like a book.
Balthier is recruited through the event Thieves of the Sky. As of the Japanese release, Thieves of the Sky is permanently available after completing Chapter 4 and recruiting Balthier is a requirement to unlock Chapter 9.
