Bahamut is a boss in Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2. He is Oerba Yun Fang's Eidolon, and is fought in the Fifth Ark by Fang, Lightning, and Vanille, as a test to prove Fang's strength to him. Bahamut is a mechanical dragon who stands on two legs and uses his enormous claws to attack. In Gestalt Mode, he grows wings and attacks the groups of enemies with Fang riding on his back. Bahamut's special attack is Mega Flare.

Story

While the group discusses whether they should carry out their Focus to destroy Cocoon, or if they should follow Serah's last words of saving it, Fang pulls her weapon against the party, making it clear she would rather destroy Cocoon than see her friends become Cie'th. From her rage, Bahamut is summoned. Fang states that the Eidolons appear whenever a l'Cie's path towards completing their Focus begins to waver, forcing the l'Cie to choose life or death.
StrategyEdit
Like all Eidolons, Bahamut inflicts Doom on Fang at the beginning of the battle, and instead of defeating it, the player must fill Bahamut's Gestalt Bar. Bahamut is an aggressive Eidolon, initially targeting Fang with physical attacks followed by Whirlwind on the party. Libra will reveal that hitting him to get chain bonuses and switching to Saboteur to debuff him will satisfy him, as well as defending the party as a Sentinel.
Good Paradigm sets for the battle are Safe Subversion (SAB/SAB/MED) and Perseverance (SAB/MED/MED). Saboteur fills up Bahamut's Gestalt Bar very quickly. Other good ones are Combat Clinic (SEN/MED/MED) for healing and Mystic Tower (SEN/RAV/RAV) for attacking. The party should look out for his Whirlwind>Umbral Vise>Ignis combo.
