Bad Rap is an enemy from Final Fantasy VII fought in the Gelnika.

FormationsEdit

Row 2: Bad Rap A, Bad Rap B
798 Row 1: Bad Rap A, Bad Rap B
Row 2: Bad Rap C, Bad Rap D
799 Bad Rap A, Bad Rap B, Poodler (Attack from both sides)

LocationsEdit

Gelnika
Hallway 797, 798, 799 (Attack from both sides)

BattleEdit

While they have decently high HP for the time that the party can first encounter them, they are of no big threat. His Whip attack may it use twice in one turn. It will use Big Fang on the character in the party with the highest current HP and his Evil Poison attack always inflicts Darkness on one character.

Bad Raps are the only source of Luck Sources in the game.

LocationsEdit

Gelnika
Hallway 796, 797, 799 (Attack from both sides)
Sector 8
Cannon Control Panel 856 (event)

StrategyEdit

It is advised to attack them using multi-targeting spells, such as Beta or Aqualung, to defeat them quickly.

A quick Luck Source harvesting solution is to use Yuffie with Conformer and Mega-All Materia equipped, then Morph the entire formation for normal damage. One can also equip the Counter Materia in a linked slot with Morph, and Cover, to boost the frequency of morphing.

EtymologyEdit

The Japanese name for this enemy is likely derived from "Evil Wrap". "Wrap" would refer to its nature as a squid-like creature and the wrapping of its tentacles.

For the English translation, The synonym "bad" is used as a substitute for "evil" thereby making it a pun on the English phrase, "bad rap".
