Arvis (ジュン , Jun?) is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy VI. He is a member of the Returners living in Narshe. When he is first met by the player, his dialogue is credited to Old Man (老人, Roujin?).

StoryEdit

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

Arvis was one of the few residents of Narshe to take a side in the conflict. Narshe was a neutral town and most of the resident preferred that it stayed that way. Arvis, however, knew that the Empire was going to attack Narshe anyway, for the miners who worked there had uncovered a frozen Esper. Arvis was looking for a way to convince the Elder of Narshe to join the Returners, however this still did not convince the Elder.

When Terra Branford came to Narshe to obtain the frozen Esper for the Empire, she blacked out, and Arvis rescued her. He warned her that she should stay away from both Narshe and the Empire and should find her own path. However, she was an amnesiac and could not remember a thing. Arvis sent for Locke Cole, a renowned Treasure Hunter and Returner, and take her to the Returner Hideout to meet with Banon.

Terra, Banon, and Edgar Roni Figaro return to Narshe to visit Arvis and take a look at the frozen Esper for themselves. Arvis decided to bring them to see the Elder and help him convince the Elder of the need for Narshe to join the Returners. The Elder could not see why, and was still hesitant. When Locke returned to Narshe, however, he warned the Elder of an impending Imperial attack. Banon and the others helped defend Narshe. Afterward, Arvis and Banon convinced the Elder that they needed to ally themselves with the Returners.

After a series of events, Arvis and Banon suggest a strategy for overthrowing the Empire. Terra would go and plead with the Espers for help and have them attack Vector from the east. A coalition of Returners and Narshe guards, led by Arvis and Banon, would storm Vector from the north. The strategy worked, and Arvis was in Vector in a total state of shock. What happens to him after this is unknown, and it is assumed that he dies in the end of the world. The developers actually refuse to comment on his fate, with Sakaguchi saying, "Use your imagination".[1]

TriviaEdit
