Arts of War (戦技, Sengi?), also known as Battle Skill and Battle Tech, is a recurring skillset in the Final Fantasy series. In the Ivalice Alliance games, it can be a great support ability for ranged units to have as they can "rend" equipment and stats from a distance.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy Tactics[]

Arts of War is the command ability for the Knight. The Dual Wield ability (acquired using the Ninja job) allows the player to take two chances at "rending" equipment and statistics. For example, players can rend an enemy's speed twice in one turn. In the PlayStation version, the first four abilities are useless against enemies that cannot equip armor or weapons (i.e. "monsters"). This was changed in the remake.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance[]

Soldier & warrior command. Soften up enemy defenses.

Description

Battle Tech is an action ability usable by the Soldier and Warrior. Many Battle Tech abilities revolve around weakening an opponent's stats.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift[]

Arts of War is the command of Soldiers and Warriors. Soldier abilities can be learned by equipping swords or greatswords. Warrior abilities can be learned by equipping swords or broadswords.

Etymology[]

The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise attributed to Sun Tzu, a high-ranking military general, strategist and tactician. The text is composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare. It is commonly known to be the definitive work on military strategy and tactics of its time.
