Akihiko Matsui is a battle system designer, director, and producer who has worked for first Squaresoft and later Square Enix for over twenty years.
Profile
Matsui started working at Squaresoft as a low-level employee on the Final Fantasy IV team, making memory maps and having an influence on Edward Chris von Muir's character development. He was notably the director for Chrono Trigger with Yoshinori Kitase and Takashi Tokita. At the present time, he is the producer of Final Fantasy XI, replacing Hiromichi Tanaka who resigned from the company.
